Welcome to JDD Psychology Services

Hi, welcome to my website. Please feel free to browse around and learn about my role as a Clinical Psychologist, the services I offer and a little about Clinical Psychology itself.

Home

In a nutshell, I provide short and long-term therapy for a wide range of issues that adults over the age of 18 may present with.
I am experienced in a variety of assessments, including those to provide insight into cognitive abilities (including strengths and weaknesses); memory assessment; diagnosis of and insight into autism spectrum conditions; and questionnaires to help identify, monitor and evaluate therapeutic interventions.
I accept referrals from insurance, rehabilitation and medico-legal companies; solicitors; care and nursing homes; and from individuals, couples and families / carers.
Everyone I work with is recognised as a unique individual who has much to offer in the therapeutic relationship. You will always be treated with dignity and respect, and will be a collaborative partner in working towards mutually agreed goals.

What is Clinical Psychology?

Home

One of the foremost authors of psychology textbooks in Britain, Richard Gross, defines psychology itself, as 'The Science of Mind and Behaviour'. Clinical Psychology is how that science is applied to reduce psychological distress and promote psychological well-being.

Clinical Psychologists are scientist-practitioners, in that they have been trained to be proficient in both the science behind psychological interventions and ways of working and the application of these in clinical practice.

The British Psychological Society identifies several aims the Clinical Psychologist is working towards, these are:

  • To enable individuals and carers to have the skills and abilities to cope with their emotional needs and daily lives, to maximise psychological and physical well-being.
  • To develop and use their capacity to make informed choices in order to enhance and maximise independence and autonomy.
  • To have a sense of self-understanding, self-respect and self-worth.
  • To be able to enjoy good social and personal relationships, and
  • To share commonly valued social and environmental facilities.

"I was deeply impressed with the way you helped X see how she could confront her fears about letting go of her emotional attachment to her belongings as she realises that this will lead to a deeper emotional life with us in the X. So thanks so much."
